Mission Statement

To provide a proactive method for retaining graduating Key Club and Circle K members in the Kiwanis Family utilizing the Kiwanis International family of clubs as a network for those graduate’s benefit.

About the Program

This is a proactive program developed by the Rocky Mountain District. The network of Kiwanis International family of clubs already exists. This program is designed to supercharge that network by providing KC Graduates with an Advocate to assist members in contacting and utilizing the support of the Kiwanis family of clubs wherever they may reside.

KC Graduates remain as a special class of Honorary Members (KCG Members) of their Home Clubs if that club has adopted the program or of the District if it has not. There are no fees or dues to the member or the Home Club for participating in the program. KC Graduate keeps building on the member’s existing community service resume with the minimum obligation to do two community service projects each year and attend a minimum of two meetings of a Kiwanis organization each year.

The only other requirement is to complete the annual Proof of Participation and Renewal forms as outlined in the Registration Form.

How Does It Work?

Kiwanis International has clubs in eighty countries worldwide. As a member of the program, you inform the KC Graduate Administrator when you move to a new area and a member of the  Administrator’s team contacts Kiwanis Clubs in your area. Then we give you the personal contact information for these clubs and let you know they would be happy to have you visit.

You have an immediate Kiwanis family who are dedicated to youth. They will know about the community you are moving to and all the local information you need to know. This works whether you are going to a college away from home or moving to a new job – the essence of  supercharged networking. This is all available at no cost to you.

Who Are KC Graduates?

The age requirement is 18 to 40 years old. You may sign up in high school and re-ceive KC Graduate communications, but you become a member after graduation and when you have reached your eighteenth birthday. College students in CKI or who have been in Key Club may also become members at anytime provided they are age 18.

Your Identification Card

This identification card is sent to the KCG Graduate by the Rocky Mountain District KC Graduate Administrator. It is provided in electronic format so the member may have it on file as needed. It is suggested it be printed and laminated for safe keeping.

The card is your identification as a Rocky Mountain District Kiwanis member. Show this card to other Kiwanians at any Kiwanis Club meeting or event. As a KC Graduate member, you are entitled to enjoy club meetings and participate in events as an honorary Kiwanis member wherever you go.

Communications:

The Program is established to help the KCG member in continuing their association with the Kiwanis Family of Clubs beyond High School or College graduation. This association allows the KCG member to utilize the Kiwanis Family network to assist them in everyday situations while away from their familiar surroundings.

Your contact information is not shared outside the Kiwanis Family.

When you arrive at your new location, whether it is a college, workplace, or new city, your email address may change. Many colleges require you to use their email server and will provide you with a new email address. It is important you notify the KC Graduate Administrator of the new email address. Notify the Host Kiwanis Club, if your association is with a local Kiwanis Club.

Notify the KCG Administrator if you change your cell phone number from the one on your original Registration Form. Occasionally, text messages may be sent.

Renewal Forms or other communications will be sent to the email address the KCG Administrator has on file for you. Therefore it is your responsibility to notify the KCG Administrator of the email address and phone number you wish to receive communications.

Other Clubs and Organizations:

If you are attending a college that has a Kiwanis Circle K Club, you may wish to associate with that Club and become a member of CKI. We encourage this as it provides the interaction with the youth of your college.

A presence of a CKI Club can usually be found on the college website under youth services, community interaction, or other web pages. The KC Graduate Administrator may have provided you the contact information, or you may contact your college student center representative. The KCG Administrator will make every effort to obtain the CKI contact information from local Kiwanis contacts.

We encourage you to belong to the Key Club and/or CKI Alumni Associations.

Many colleges have community service clubs or service organizations on campus which you may wish to look into.

For Kiwanis Clubs

What is a Home Kiwanis Club:

The ‘Home’ Club is the Rocky Mountain District Kiwanis Club that sponsored the Key Club or Circle K Club at the time the KC Graduate (KCG) was a member when they graduated from High School or College.

It is recommended that the Home Kiwanis Club adopt a policy of support for the Rocky Mountain District KC Graduate program. In this the Home Club can determine what they will provide to the KC Graduate as a ‘Special’ Honorary Member of their Kiwanis Club. Suggestions may include sending the member the Club Newsletters, invitation the KC Graduate to the Club meeting or participate in events when they return to the area, or whatever the Home Kiwanis Club wishes.

The ‘Home’ Club President will be notified by the KC Graduate Administrator of a KC Graduate member for their Kiwanis Club. Contact information will be provided to both the Home Club President and the KC Graduate member.

What is a Host Kiwanis Club:

The ‘Host’ Kiwanis Club is a Kiwanis Club agreeing to host a KCG member that is relocating to their area from the KCG’s Home Club area.

The Host Kiwanis Club could be any Kiwanis International Club. The President of the Host Club will be notified of the KC Graduate member in their area by the KC Graduate Program Administrator. Contact information will be provided to both the Host Club President and the KC Graduate member to allow them to communicate to coordinate Club meeting dates and location.

Mission Statement

To provide a proactive method for retaining graduating Key Club and Circle K members in the Kiwanis Family utilizing the Kiwanis International family of clubs as a network for those graduate’s benefit.

The KC Graduate Program

The Rocky Mountain District has developed a program for retaining Key Club and CKI graduates in the Kiwanis Family after graduation. The program name is the KC Graduate Program and may also be referred to as KCG. The K refers to Key Club Graduates and the C to Circle K Graduates.

The goals of the program are:

  1. To invite Key Club and CKI graduates to remain within the Kiwanis family,
  2. To provide a mechanism for retaining, tracking, and interacting with Key Club and CKI graduates,
  3. To provide a functional data base for developing current and future programs to keep these KCG members in the Kiwanis family, and to create a proactive method for Clubs and the District to reach out and associate with other Kiwanis individuals and organizations anywhere these KCG graduates reside in the world.

The principal elements of the KCG program are:

  1. The program is a District program.>Clubs whose graduating Key Club or CKI students join KCG may elect to be the Home Club for those graduates, or if the Club elects not to participate then the District will act in that capacity.
  2. KCG members are a special class of honorary members of the participating Home Club or are District KCG members. The District’s recognition of a KCG membership will cease at age 40 or upon the KCG member becoming a traditional member of a Kiwanis Club.
  3. Key Club and CKI graduates may become honorary members of their Home Club or become District members by invitation. Invitation may be issued by Kiwanis Key Cub Advisors or other Club Members designated by the participating Club President, or by District Invitation from the District KC Graduate Administrator or designate.
  4. KCG membership is transferable from the Home Club to other Kiwanis Clubs on request from a KCG member and the receiving club. If the receiving Kiwanis Club is outside the District, the Club may choose to implement this program in any manner it believes to be in the best interest of the Club, KCG members and Kiwanis.
  5. The District believes that a service requirement is important to assure KCG members are dedicated to community service. The service requirement is a minimum of two community service projects a year. These projects may be with any community service or Kiwanis organization.
  6. The District believes that a meeting attendance requirement is important to assure KCG members remain in tune with Kiwanis Objects. The attendance requirement is to attend a minimum of two Kiwanis organization meetings a year. These could be meetings of the Home Club, CKI meetings, or meetings of any other Kiwanis organization.
  7. The District believes that the program is for the benefit of KC Graduates and therefore no International, District or Club dues are payable by the District, Clubs or KC graduates.
  8. The District’s KC Graduate Administrator will administrate the program including the development of points of contact and appropriate materials.
  9. The program may be amended from time to time on administrative matters by the KC Graduate Administrator and in substance by the Rocky Mountain Kiwanis Board.
